On Feb. 27, 1928, the Stanley Theater — later renamed the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts — opened in Downtown Pittsburgh. The massive movie house was dubbed “Pittsburgh’s Palace of Amusement,” where guests could stay all day for 65 cents (reduced to a quarter for those arriving before noon). After decades as a mixed-use performance space and a stretch as the city’s most storied venue for rock concerts, the facility reopened in 1987, painstakingly brought back to its original grandeur; the restoration of the theater was the first major project of the then-new Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. It’s among the 10 largest theater stages in the country. 240 The number of performances in an average year.

It was poorly attended; possibly only a few thousand. The event had Hells Angels as security which made for an intimidating atmosphere; all the bands struggled to raise the enthusiasm of the crowd that day.
Saxon were the best band of the day. I remember my friends and I tore our tickets up into small pieces so that we could throw it in the air when the band came on. I remember Biff cracking a ironic remark about the crowd’s seemingly lacking disappointment at the announcement of their last song of the set [Source: UK Rock Festivals].

The information on this site is the only thing we have so far.
It is good to inform you that we are not a commercial site.
We don’t sell things and don’t trade bootlegs.
I also don’t have this recording you ask for.
The list with recordings is based on 8 different resources.
If you like to add other missing things, just let us know.
I do hope that you will find what you are looking for.
Kind regards

Did Saxon play this concert ?
No, they did not play this concert. I was at the concert. The opening bands were Axe and Aldo Nova group. The ticket stub that I have reflects this as well. The entry should read:
